This webquest will enable students to study the characteristics of plants, the environment the plants need to survive and maintaining the health of the plants.  Through this process, the students will learn how to research using the Internet.  They will also learn how to communicate through presentations using PowerPoint.Standards addressed: Standard 2:   Information Systems - Students will access, generate, process, and transfer information using appropriate technologies
  • Use a variety of equipment and software packages to enter, process, display, and communicate information in different forms using text, tables, pictures, and sound
                - Students will learn how to use PowerPoint.
  • Access needed information from printed media, electronic data bases, and community resources
                - Students will learn how to effectively search using the Internet.Standard 4:   Science - Students will understand and apply scientific concepts, principles, and theories pertaining to the physical setting and living environment and recognize the historical development of ideas in science.
  •   Describe how the structures of plants and animals complement the environment of the plant or animal  
                - Students will study the structure of the plants and the environment needed to survive.Standard 1:   Language for Information and Understanding - Students will listen, speak, read, and write for information and understanding. As listeners and readers, students will collect data, facts, and ideas; discover relationships, concepts, and generalizations; and use knowledge generated from oral, written, and electronically produced texts. As speakers and writers, they will use oral and written language that follows the accepted conventions of the English language to acquire, interpret, apply, and transmit information.
  1. Gather and interpret information from children's reference books, magazines, textbooks, electronic bulletin boards, audio and media presentations, oral interviews, and from such forms as charts, graphs, maps, and diagrams
                    - Students will interpret information from the Internet using the Webquest. Information Literacy Skills: Standard 1 – accesses information efficiently and effectively Standard 2 – evaluates information critically and competently Standard 3 – The student who is information literate uses information accurately and creatively. Standard 9 – The student participates effectively in groups to pursue and generate information.
